The H. Upmann Propios Edición Limitada 2018 is a luxurious, limited-edition Cuban cigar, crafted to showcase the brand’s signature refinement in a rare format. Measuring 4 3/4 inches (120 mm) with a 46 ring gauge (Mareva Gruesa vitola), this cigar is notably compact for an Edición Limitada release. Each Propios is meticulously hand-rolled using specially aged tobaccos from Cuba’s renowned Vuelta Abajo region, with the wrapper leaf undergoing additional fermentation for a darker, richer appearance.

Presented in elegant varnished boxes of 25, the Propios offers a sophisticated, medium-to-full-bodied experience ideal for collectors and aficionados seeking a unique, flavourful smoke. The Propios represents the 5th time H. Upmann has been selected to be part of the prestigious Limited Edition series, dating back to the launch of the concept in the year 2000. Every leaf selected for use in these rare cigars has been aged for a minimum of two years. 

Founded in 1844, The H. Upmann brand was established in Havana by German banker Hermann Dietrich Upmann, who arrived in Cuba in 1843 to expand his family’s banking business. Captivated by the local tobacco industry, he purchased a cigar factory and began producing cigars under his own name. H. Upmann is credited with introducing cedar boxes for cigar storage and gifting, a practice that became an industry standard. These boxes, often adorned with the H. Upmann name, were initially used to promote the bank and later became a hallmark of the brand. Alongside cigar production, the Upmann family operated a bank that catered to tobacco dealers and manufacturers, creating a vertically integrated business that managed everything from seedbeds to shipping.
